Picking Parsley

The sun had almost set, when I dashed outside between heavy showers, to pick Parsley for dinner. I got completely distracted though by autumn leaves lying on the deck. Huge rain drops embellished the heart shaped leaves, like precious crystals. Such ephemeral beauty.

    • You are so right. When I saw these leaves, I was feeling sad about a friend of mine who is reaching the end from a long and awful illness. Seeing something beautiful and being able to enjoy it for a moment, can give you an escape from the reality of life, somehow it always seems to be nature that provides it. You must see many beautiful natural sights in your lovely part of the world.

  1. Precious diamonds!! Lovely photo! It’s lovely seeing all those raindrops on leaves, flowers, plants…there’s something quite magical about it! It reminds me of the Walt Disney Fantasia movie, if I remember right, the part with the fairies and the 4 seasons, I think it was the dance of the sugar plum fairy! πŸ˜‰ xxx

    • I can just see some fairies dancing around these leaves now that you’ve put the idea in my head. When I was a little girl, I used to spend hours making clothes for fairies from leaves and flowers. Hmmm, perhaps an idea for a new painting….

      • Awww, that’s so sweet! I used to think that if I would concentrate really really hard, with a bit of chance maybe I could see them…..hmmmm…never happened though! πŸ˜‰ Oh yes yes yes, keep that idea of a new painting in your mind, I’m looking forward to seeing it, you can do so many things! πŸ˜€ xxx

    • We have had a lot of rain lately which is good as we really needed it. It has been a little difficult to get washing dried and dog walked though, so upsides are welcome!

  2. What a stunner Jen! Your photo has captured nature at its best. Sometimes you have to stop and appreciate the simple things in life. Glad you did! xo

  3. Is it our busy lives that distract us from the beauty of the leaf or is the beauty of the leaf that distracts us from our busy lives? You have captured the precious moment beautifully. ❀

  4. Ah, this is amazing and magical, Jen!
Thank you for stopping by that, taking this photo and sharing us this beautiy❀️❀️❀️

  5. This is superb Jen ! It looks like a leaf boat about to set sail to faraway lands with a precious cargo …
Am glad you found something beautiful to distract you from sadness even temporarily . You are so about it being nature so often providing it .

    • Thanks Poppy, I do look to nature for solace it seems. Yesterday, I went to the funeral of a dear friend of mine who had been suffering from Motor Neurone for over 12 years. I awoke to pouring rain which cleared just in time to go to the church. At the cemetery, rain threatened but then the skies cleared to a beautiful soft blue. We scattered Pete’s coffin with yellow tulips and roses. Today, I just feel a bit numb…

  6. This photo is amazing ! The light and everything, it’s perfect ! Did you edit it ? And by the way, I love owls too (check the background of my blog, it’s an owl) πŸ˜‰
